Basic Info
Name:Elanora Silverleaf
Bio
Elanora is a D&D 3rd Ed character of [info]redxian. Her adventures will be chronicled in this journal.

---------------------------------------------
Elanora Silverleaf was the first born child of Ceron Silverleaf and Aulura Greenbow. Ceron is local druid and spiritual leader in a small village in the northern reaches of the Ganjus Forest. Ceron was a veteran of the Titanwar and fought along side his brethren with Denev, the Earth Mother. During the war Denev protected the elves in Ganjus by literally bringing the forest to life. Once the war had ended Ceron decided to devote his life (and his family’s) to Denev, helping her recover from her wounds from the war as best he could. And so Elanora was brought up learning the ways of the Druid, nurturing nature and protecting the land. Elanora also had a younger brother Tobias, who was also charged to become a druid.

Elanora grew up to be quite the mischievous child; she showed no interest in becoming a Druid and would constantly shirk her responsibilities to be off with her friends. She was quite a charismatic child even at a young age, she would make friends with ease and her enemies were few and far between (but they were just jealous). She would entertain her friends by telling stories about the gods and the titans, often making up things as she went along (often changing the facts to make them more interesting). These stories began to circulate among the younger elves and eventually they reached Ceron’s ear. He was shocked and dismayed to hear the lies that had come from his daughter’s mouth. He punished her by forcing her to memorise the known story of Denev until she knew it word for word.

Now Ceron had a younger half brother, Mathias Williams. Their mother Heilyn Gilondra had an affair with Danel Williams, a human soldier from Mithril and gave birth at the start of the titanwar. Mathias grew up in a war torn Scarn and near the end of the war witnessed his mother slaughtered by titanspawn trying to protect him. If it were not for Ceron he would not be alive. After the war Ceron took it upon himself to be Mathias’ father figure when they could not find Mathias’ father, Danel, and assumed him dead. Ceron did not like Mathias for he stood as a reminder for who his mother had died for. But he felt it was his responsibility to make something of Mathias’ life (whether he wanted to or not). When Mathias’ came of age (shortly after Elanora’s birth) the news of his missing father came to the village. On hearing that his father is still alive and in Mithril, he immediately began packing to leave for Mithril. Ceron forbid Mathias to leave, as he had planed his future in the honour of Denev and their mother. Mathias refused to have his life planed out for him and started to leave. A fight ensued between the two, to which Ceron won easily. On seeing his half brother on the ground bleeding he realised that his plans were not going to work and that his mother’s death was to be in vain. He exiled Mathias from the village to never come back.

Fifty years later Mathias returns to the village, an old retired bard at the end of his years. The fight he had with Ceron was the biggest regret he had, and he was looking to patch thing up with his half-brother before he died. It took a lot of effort to even talk his half-brother, but once they did he apologised to his brother. Ceron forgave Mathias for he too regretted the fight, but his half brother reminded him too much of his failure and the meaningless death of his mother. So Mathias was allowed to live in the village on the further most house from Ceron’s dwelling.

After facing her punishment Elanora felt she needed to make things up to her father. One afternoon, she was walking home when she past Mathias’ house. From the house she heard the laughter of children. She looked into the window and saw her uncle telling a story to a group of young elves. He was telling them the story about a manticore, a hag and chest of drawers. Once he had finished the story the children cheered. Once the children left Elanora knew this was her chance to make things up. She knocked on the door and asked Mathias to teach her to tell stories. Mathias saw the great potential in Elanora, so he agreed to teach her on the condition that she became a bard. He saw that Elanora had so much talent for creativity it’d be a wasted on a druid’s life.

Over the next year, they secretly met every evening and Mathias taught Elanora everything he knew about what it is to be a bard. He taught her how to play the Lute, how to tell a story and even taught her presentation and manners. Unfortunately, due to all the effort put into becoming a bard, Ceron’s efforts to shape Elanora into a druid were seriously hindered. Ceron could not understand why Elanora was advancing so slowly in her training. It eventually consumed his mind so much that he decided to find out what she did with her time. He finds out about the secret lessons and becomes enraged at Mathias, for betraying him again. Once again he exiles his brother from the village, but because Mathias is too old to travel far he is banished to an old abandoned house on the edge of the Ganjus forest.

Ceron begins to feel déjà vu and is determined to do things right this time. He tells his daughter about what it is to be a druid, hoping to sway her away from becoming a bard. And for a time it works, but the pull of a good story and a captivating audience is too great. Elanora slips away one night to visit her uncle to find him very ill and on the verge of death. Mathias tells her that she has learned everything she needed to know. Before he dies he gives her his Lute, a medallion which had belonged to Danel, his father, and tells her to follow her heart. She stays with him until the end, part of her blames her father for the way Mathias died. Before she leaves she finds a letter addressed to Ceron.

Elanora returns to the village to tell her father about the death of Mathias. She blames him for Mathias death and accused him of wanting it to happen. She hands him the letter Mathias wrote to him and goes to her room to pack her things to leave forever. In the letter Mathias apologises to Ceron and explains that he had always wanted Ceron to be proud of him. He had hoped that by helping Elanora to follow her dreams he was making something positive come out of his life. The letter is written so eloquently that Ceron suddenly feels remorse and realises that he missed his little brother. Elanora says goodbye to her mother and then looks at her father and the walks out the door. It is only when she is gone how selfish he has been, but it’s too late. Elanora has left to follow in the footsteps of her late uncle.
